Maimuna Memon Unveils ‘Set This House On Fire’ Ahead of Debut EP Release

Maimuna Memon, known for her unique blend of music and theatre, recently unveiled her latest single, “Set This House On Fire“. This release anticipates her upcoming debut EP, More Than I Bargained For, which is set to drop on October 13.

Three tracks from this anticipated EP will also be featured in her one-woman stage show Manic Street Creature. The performance has garnered considerable praise and is scheduled to run at the Southwark Playhouse from October 19 to November 11.

“Set This House On Fire” stands out as Maimuna’s most dramatic composition to date. Through a blend of poetic lyricism and heartfelt emotion, the song explores the intoxicating phases of lust and love.

Maimuna’s passionate vocal delivery and evocative lyrics make listeners feel the intensity of early romantic encounters. A live video of the track, performed alongside cellist Gabriella Swallow, has been set against the scenic backdrop of Hampstead Heath.

Elaborating on her work, Maimuna remarked, “‘Set This House On Fire’ captures the electrifying early moments spent with someone new. It delves into the heightened senses, where every gesture and word becomes significant.

Her Fringe First award-winning show, Manic Street Creature, promises to be an immersive musical journey. It delves into themes of love, lust, and the complexities of mental health. Maimuna plays Ria, a character immersed in her music while grappling with memories of a tumultuous past.

Many might recognize Maimuna for her acclaimed role as Nikki in Richard Hawley’s Standing At The Sky’s Edge musical, which led her to an Olivier Award nomination. After attaining recognition for Manic Street Creature at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022, Maimuna ventured into recording, collaborating with prominent figures in the music industry.

Hailing from Darwen near Blackburn, Maimuna’s diverse background has significantly influenced her music. Being the child of an Irish mother and a Pakistani father, and later moving to Australia during her formative years, Maimuna had to navigate her identity between diverse cultures.

This personal experience, she found, resonated with the notion of third culture kids, individuals who grow up feeling wedged between different cultural realms.

As she continues to blur the boundaries between music and theatre, Maimuna’s journey resonates with audiences worldwide, reflecting on universal themes of love, identity, and cultural complexities.
