Canadian Cameroonian singer, songwriter, actress, burlesque performer and poet Erockfor is back in Montreal with a brand new song titled “Heart”.

The artist had escaped to Korea for six years to get away from her abusive and cheating husband but she’s now back to her roots, sharing her journey back to healing with her music. She has been releasing a new single every month since May leading up to her anticipated debut album Phoenix. The album will arrive at the end October.

Her single “Heart” is named after the fourth chakra ‘Anahata’ that means “unhurt” in Sanskrit and represents love, empathy and compassion that Erockfor shares from her journey. The song is written by Erockfor herself and produced by LA-based electronic musician Blaire Michael that has been working with Erockfor exclusively on her upcoming album. This song is a powerful slow burning pop sensation with vulnerable lyricism and an enchanting vocal performance.

Talking about the inspiration that brought “Heart” to life, the singer says, “The song is inspired by the heart chakra and it is yet another step in my healing journey. There was once a time when I didn’t fully love myself. There was once a time I believed I was cursed. My self-talk was extremely negative. There was so much shame surrounding what led me to leave Montreal.

Now, my love for self is unconditional. I am proud of myself. I am whole and holy, as I sing in the song. I hope this message reaches a lot of people, because trauma can really make you question your worth. The chorus is a literal love letter to self. So hopefully, listeners can sing along and mean every word”.

Erockfor has had recent support from Wonderland Magazine, Flaunt Magazine, Earmilk, Ones To Watch, Exclaim! Magazine, MEFEater and ASBO Magazine in the last few months. Her upcoming album explores her journey of her past years back in Seoul where she healed and she retells the events through her music.

With such a powerful voice which has been compared to Cindy Lauper, Macy Gray and Amy Winehouse, we can’t wait to hear more from her and her life story.
