The author, composer, performer and producer José James has released his latest single “Nobody Knows My Name” on March 4, 2020, featuring Laura Mvula and Kris Bowers! It is part of his latest album No Beginning No End 2, which is a sequel to his album No Beginning No End released in 2013.
While No Beginning No End was composed of hooky, funky and jazz sounds, No Beginning No End 2, which is James Blue Note‘s debut album for his Rainbow Blonde Records label, is composed of warmer and more defined songs, balancing classic songwriting with an immersive atmosphere.
In this last album, José James has collaborated with many other artists such as Laura Mvula, Aloe Blacc, Ledisi, Erik Truffaz and Hindi Zahra.
The track “Nobody Knows My Name” explores identity and celebrity in today’s Trump America and post-Brexit UK. It’s a musical homage to Abbey Lincoln, Nina Simone, Max Roach et Charles Mingus.
Now that his album is out the artist has planned a tour, The Independance Tour, whose next three dates will be March 21 in Denver at the Dazzle Jazz, March 22 in Los Angeles at the Lodge Room, and March 25 in New York City at the Bowery Ballroom.
