Prince Harry Reveals Worry That Princess Diana Story Could Repeat Itself | TV News

Harry and Meghan recently spoke to Oprah Winfrey in an exclusive interview, marking one of the royal couple’s first media engagement since they left the royal family in early 2020, causing a reported “crisis” at Buckingham Palace.

CBS is releasing two short excerpts from the Oprah interview with Meghan and Harry to promote the interview, which will be released in full on March 7 and is expected to cover a number of topics, including the support (or lack thereof) that Meghan has received from the royal family.

In one of the excerpts, Harry talks about Princess Diana, his mother, who was widely rejected by the royal family during her high-profile break-up with Prince Charles in the 1990s, and who died in a car accident in 1997, after her car was being followed by paparazzi on motorbikes leading to the accident occurring.

Harry said, referring to his mother Diana, “My biggest concern was history repeating itself. I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting her talking to you with my wife by my side, because I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago”.

In another interview with James Corden for The Late Late Show last week, Harry said he was very concerned about media intrusions into his family’s life.

He said “We all know what the British press can be like, and it was destroying my mental health. I was like, this is toxic. So I did what any husband and what any father would do”.
