Katy Perry, Post Malone And J Balvin To Feature On ‘Pokemon 25: The Album’ | Music News

On February 27, a virtual concert headlined by Post Malone was held to celebrate Pokemon‘s 25th anniversary.

At the end of the concert, a rather ambiguous message appeared on the screen with the names of Katy Perry and J Balvin, revealing that the two artists would be working alongside Post Malone, creating songs for a 14-track album called Pokemon 25: The Album.

Balvin, the Colombian “prince of reggaeton“, confirmed the news in an interview with Rolling Stone, revealing that the album will be released this autumn via Capitol.

Balvin, Perry, and Malone are three of the 11 Universal Music Group artists who are creating songs for the album, celebrating a quarter-century since the launch of Pokémon. The trio and another musician yet to be discovered will also release video clips to accompany their songs.

In addition, the recently released Post Malone cover of the Hootie and the Blowfish 90’s hit “I Only Wanna Be with You”, which he also performed at the virtual Pokémon 25 Music concert, will also be featured on the album.

“We’re gonna come up with a crazy song. It’s going to catch everybody’s ear”, the reggaeton singer told Rolling Stone. “It’s easy to make a Pokémon song if you just want that fan base, but we’re not close-minded. We want everybody to vibe with Pokémon”, he added.

While waiting for the album scheduled for autumn 2021, it is possible to watch the entire concert on-demand on Pokemon’s youtube channel.
