Quebec Singer-Songwriter Bobby Bazini Returns With New Single ‘Heartwood’

Multi-platinum Quebec artist Bobby Bazini is back in the spotlight with his latest single, “Heartwood” via Spectra Music. This track serves as a taste of his new album Pearl.

Bazini, not new to acclaim, has previously caught the attention of many influential figures in the music industry, including personalities from BBC 6 Music like Gilles Peterson, Huey Morgan, Deb Grant, and Chris Hawkins.

BBC Radio 2’s Jamie Cullum and Jo Whiley also showed their admiration for his earlier releases. His past singles, “Ojala” and “Waterfallin’,” have also been recognized and appreciated widely.

Drawing inspiration from the Canadian author Michael Christie’s book “Green Wood,” Bazini crafts “Heartwood” around the intricate comparison between a tree’s growth rings and the evolution of family dynamics across generations.

He reflects on his personal familial journey, pondering over the time required for past wounds to heal, old patterns to break, and the eventual embracing of one’s individual path. The song’s captivating groove is influenced by Jorge Ben’s “Todo Colorida.”

The song boasts of a riveting sax solo by Félix Petit, a unique and memorable feature within the album. This particular piece, Bazini believes, carries a tangible live energy that promises a magnetic presence during his performances.

The album Pearl is an ode to resilience. Mirroring the process of how irritants inside an oyster evolve into beautiful pearls, Bazini reflects on overcoming personal challenges to produce something magnificent.

For the album’s creation, Bazini collaborated with producer Connor Seidel at Tree House Studios, near Montreal. The ensemble brought together for Pearl is a testament to the project’s gravitas, featuring prominent names like Conner Molander, Robbie Kuster, Eveline Grégoire-Rousseau, Félix Petit, and Antoine Gratton.

Bazini’s career trajectory, starting from his debut Better In Time in 2010 to his recent global tour culminating at the Montreux Jazz Festival, showcases a consistent ascent. His albums have not only charted but have also resonated with a wide audience.

This forthcoming release is eagerly anticipated, given his track record of producing soulful, meaningful music. For fans and newcomers alike, “Heartwood” and the entire Pearl album promise a musical experience blending introspection with captivating soundscapes.
