New York rapper Troy Ave was shot in the leg at a T.I. concert in the city’s Irving Plaza last night. The incident took place in the venue’s green room shortly before the headline performance, and resulted in the death of bodyguard Ronald McPhatter, and four more injuries. Police have been unable to identify the shooter or ascertain how a gun was brought into a heavily guarded venue.
The musician, whose album Major Without A Deal was released last year to a moderate critical reception, is expected to recover. The New York Police Department has issued a statement indicating they do not believe T.I. himself was involved with, or linked to the shooting.
