Skrillex Drops New Single ‘Butterflies’ Featuring Starrah and Four Tet | Music News

 

Six-time Grammy-winning DJ and producer Skrillex has just released his new single. Entitled “Butterflies”, it is his first official single since his 2019’s single “Midnight Hour”, which featured Ty Dollar $ign and Boys Noize.

 

Although, last October, Skrillex shared the track “Kliptown Empyrean” on his Soundcloud, which was recorded and released on the same day. With this new single, the DJ has returned to his classic house influences.

 

The single was dropped on May 10 and features the artist and songwriter Starrah and the producer Four Tet. Starrah handles the vocals on the song and we can hear her sing “Everybody loves somebody / Know you’re not just anybody / Butterflies when you touch my body / I’ll let you know, baby, shortly, shortly.

 

Th songwriter already wrote some Billboard chart-toppers such as Maroon 5‘s “Girls Like You”, Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Savage” and Camilla Cabello‘s “Havana”. She already worked with Skrillex on her 2020 album The Longest Interlude.

 

Four Tet and Skrillex have also worked together on several projects. The producer used Instagram to detail the collaboration, sharing that “Butterflies” was recorded in February 2020 but that the finishing touches were only made over the last few weeks. Four Tet also mentioned an extended version of the track, with a 5:30 runtime, is on Beatport.

 

On his Instagram post, he wrote: “Working with Sonny [aka Skrillex] and seeing his cosmic level ableton skills in real time has been amazing and huge respect for how crazy good he got the mix sounding. So much detail went into this one. Feels so good to have it out there“.
