Spencer Matthews has released a statement to clarify the ‘medical grounds’ on which he departed ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here – steroid addiction. After using pills to bulk up for a charity boxing match, he failed to stop using them before entering the jungle, and upon informing ITV chiefs of his addiction, was asked to leave. A statement from Matthews read, “I had intended to come off the pills gradually, but there was no time to do this before I reached the jungle“. He continued, “I pushed back but ultimately the show’s duty of care prevailed and bags had to be packed“.
