Stolen Jars – Winona | New Music

Stolen Jars have released a new single “Winona” from their upcoming album A Reminder, due out on September 6.

Speaking about their new track “Winona”, Fitzgerald says it “is about reconnecting with a close friend just as they have decided to move away. The song celebrates that friendship, it’s wistful, yet buoyant, because even though distance will inevitably change things, the singer knows the relationship is resilient and their connection will remain”.

“Winona” is in line with their previous work, keeping the same kind of happy, relaxing vibes with an originally sweet, warm and alternative melody surrounding an emotional, melancholic message.

Their last LP Kept was a total success, with The Village Voice championing their songwriting practice, while they appeared on the cover of Deli Magazine, NPR’s Bob Boilen put them on his top ten list of bands to watch at CMJ, and Consequence of Sound and Stereogum supporting some of the album’s singles.

Two years later, Stolen Jars dropped an EP called Glint, where each track started with a tiny sound played by different kinds of instruments and the songs kept growing from their small introductions to become fully powerful melodies.

The group’s leader and songwriter Cody Fitzgerald started the band back in 2011 and it’s been guiding the band through its many permutations, surrounded by many different musicians whose contributions and collaborations have filled the band performances with all their energy and talent.
