Vans To Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Lots Of Shoes And Music | Fashion News
Skaters around the world, rejoice! Vans is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year so it’s time to wear your favourite checkered sneakers and let the fun begin. The brand plans to open several pop-up stores in cities worldwide just for the occasion, while hosting a variety of music events.
According to Alternative Press, the “Off The Wall” anniversary will be honoured by acts like Nas, Dinosaur Jr., Wu-Tang Clan, The Kills, Erykah Badu, Jamie xx, Dizzee Rascal, Yeasayer and Shlohmo. Attendees will get a sneak peek into the brand’s history as well as have their favourite Vans shoes customised for them in special workshops.
Collaborating with the Skateboard Museum Berlin and Pillow Heat from The Other Side Of The Pillow, House of Vans aims to promote its products, along with art, music and culture, which are highly connected to the brand’s philosophy. In view of the anniversary, it has also released new collections of some of its most iconic footwear, such as the Checkered and the Sk8-Hi Vans.
The celebrations will begin on March 16, while hosting cities include Austin, New York, Toronto, Mexico City, London, São Paulo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Cape Town and Kuala Lumpur.
