“Crush” is the latest taste of Yuna’s upcoming record, Chapters. The Malaysian singer/songwriter has already shared the album track, “Places To Go”, a collaboration with DJ Premier. The album itself is due for release on Friday, May 20.
The song begins very subdued, but for some echoing drums, before other drums and some calm guitar begin the song proper. The vocals are light and breezy, but when collaborator Usher comes in, you could argue the track goes from sensual to perhaps a more sexual vibe.
Daniel Carberry has directed the single’s accompanying visuals, some of which are shot in slow motion and all of which are shot in black and white. Black and white perhaps conveys the swinging passions between love, a crush, and hate, with no or little grey areas in between.
