Ahead of his performance at ‘Lean on Him: A Tribute to Bill Withers’, Ed Sheeran performed “Ain’t No Sunshine”, a Withers classic, live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The acoustic performance was backed by a small ensemble of musicians which gave the song even more poignancy and depth. Sheeran’s vocals fit well with Withers’ lyrics and made for an exceptional rendition.
Lean on Him took place on October 1 at Carnegie Hall and aims to raise money for the Stuttering Association For The Young. Both Withers and Sheeran have dealt with stuttering before, so it hits home for the two. Watch the Sheeran cover below.
