Danish singer, songwriter and producer Erika de Casier has released her second single under 4AD titled “Drama”. The song was produced by the artist herself and it comes with an anti-romanticism music video inspired by period dramas.
Born in Portugal and raised in Denmark, Erika imposed herself as a singer-songwriter and producer with her first-ever single titled “Essential” with her independent Jeep label. Erika de Casier initially made her mark as an ally of the Regelbau collective.
Since signing to 4AD last year, de Casier has released the single “No Butterflies, No Nothing” followed by this new track “Drama”, and has been named among the Guardian‘s new artist list for 2021, with further support from the likes of Rolling Stone and Pitchfork.
For “Drama”, she has produced a sweet track thanks to the guitar sounds and the 90’s R&B music inspirations. The song is based on one’s acknowledgement of dramatic tendencies. Speaking about the video, she said, “I wanted to create a sort of evil twin or alter ego of myself because you’re not entirely yourself when you’re in the violence of your own emotions.”
