Adele Is The UK’s Best-Selling Female Album Artist Of The Century | Music News

Once again, British pop star Adele has her music game going strong. She has been named by British Phonographic Industry (BPI) as the UK’s best-selling female album artist of the century!! She is ahead of pop singer P!nk, Madonna, Rihanna and Dido.

She has only dropped three albums, 19, 21, and 25 but they have all been commercial and critical successes, especially her 2011 album 21 that is still the UK’s number one album by a female artist since 2000, after selling over 6 million copies in the UK alone.

The London-based singer has been as from 2007 in the music industry and with her single “Hometown Glory” which made a sensation and since then she hasn’t stopped!!

The news comes along with the announcement that National Album Day returns this October and will be celebrating women in music this year. Women have contributed much to the music industry and popular culture through amazing albums, and next to Adele, the event will put forward other iconic artists like Amy Whinehouse or Britney Spears.

Geoff Taylor, Chief Executive of the BPI, and Kim Bayley, Chief Executive Entertainment Retailers Association, the organizations behind National Album Day have said that putting forward women for their fourth edition will offer a chance for fans and artists alike to celebrate the contribution of women to the album format.

Congratulations to our pop singer Adele for her stunning new accolade! We hope to see much more of the British star regarding music and maybe even a fourth album on the way, and we will also be keeping you up to date on National Album Day.
