Apple Music Makes Artist Payment U-Turn After Taylor Swift Open Letter | Music News

Apple Music has made a U-turn decision against not paying artist during their free trial period, following a Taylor Swift open letter to Apple, where she called the policy “unfair” and that Apple had enough money to “cover costs” over this trial period. Swift also said that, “I find it to be shocking, disappointing and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company. Three months is a long time to go unpaid and it is unfair to ask anyone to work for nothing. We don’t ask you for free iPhones. Please don’t ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation“.

iTunes chief Eddy Cue went to Twitter to tell the world he was listening loud and clear by stating, “Apple will always make sure that artist are paid. #AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period“. Taylor Swift woke up to the good news and instantly replied by saying “I am elated and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us“. All smiles again for Swift and Apple.
