Australian Artist E^ST Shares Her Debut Album ‘I’M DOING IT’ | Music News

After several singles, Australian-based singer E^ST has released her debut album I’M DOING IT. The vibe of the album meets somewhere between alt-pop with dancey beats, lovesickness and finding your place in the world.

The musician talents of Mel Bester, with stage name E^ST, got recognised decidedly early by the Swedish production and writing powerhouse The Kennel. When she was just 16-years-old Warner Music Australia became aware of the young artist and signed her.

Music magazines praised E^ST and her previous EP’s. TALK DEEP even became the number one most played song on triple j and was featured in the station’s Hottest 100 countdown of the best songs of the year.

Furthermore she already toured with Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco and is collaborating with Noah Cyrus.

In I’M DOING IT the artist goes through a breakup and is in search for her true self. This comes together with a mix of feel good sounds, thoughtful moments and a spark of self-analytical sections. The album was created in collaboration with producer Jim Elliot  (Halsey, Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue) and reflects her inner healing processes.

In the first song titled “FIT FOR COMPANY” she sings: “I don’t know who the hell I am now”. E^ST accepts the situation, but faces an identity crisis. I’M DOING IT really shows her up and downs with uplifting tracks like “MAYBE IT’S ME” and sad soulful tracks as “I’M NOT FUNNY ANYMORE”.

The first half of the album is all about being a heartbroken mess as your life falls apart, and it’s wallowing in that with no effort to make sense of it”, Mel explains. In the second half, the album comes to a positive conclusion.

They’re still dealing with sadness and heartbreak but there’s a conscious effort to do better and be better. The album takes on an optimistic tone as I grow as a person”, she says. In the final track she finds confidence and overcomes the pain. Listen to I’M DOING IT below.
