21-year rapper, Dave have won the GQ Men of the Year Award for Vero Breakthrough Music Act.

 

Last October, he droppedFunky Friday”, the first number 1 in the UK. After that, the artist debuted at Glastonbury and his album Psychodrama, released at the beginning of March, was nominated for the Mercury prize with universal acclaim.

 

Buzz White shot the rapper in London to cover the GQ’s Men of the Year issue. Dave also received two AIM Independent Music Awards for Best Independent Track and Best Independent Album.

 

At the ceremony, he thanks Stormzy and he began his speech. “I wanna say thank you to my friends, family and team and everyone who stood behind in what’s been an incredible year. Thank you to God, it’s been amazing. And shout out to the Netflix team, thank you to everyone working on Top Boy.”

 

Dave’s album Psychodrama was described as “the boldest and best British rap album in a generation”. According to British Vogue it is “the most astonishing combination of insightful social commentary and exceptional musical talent”. The amazing album has broken records with its the first week streams, and debuted at Number 1 in the Official Charts UK Album Charts.
