Detroit Artist Rowan Niemisto Releases New Single ‘Gimme Strength’

Detroit artist Rowan Niemisto has released a new song called “Gimme Strength”. This song is part of a new EP where the song is really lyrically and melodically, and where you can also hear some heavy features of acoustic guitar and lap steel.

The artist, Rowan Niemisto is continuously inspired by new and old forms of soul, jazz, and electronic music. The singer is blending his passion for songwriting with these different influences so that he can create songs that are heartfelt, while simultaneously buoyant.

For this most recent release, Rowan Niemisto plays and composes all the instruments himself and played some notable venues, such as El Club, Marble Bar, and The Loving Touch around Detroit.

Rowan Niemisto is also mainly influenced by famous artists such as Kevin Morby, Cass McCombs, John Prine, Bill Withers, D’Angelo, and Nina Simone.

He also got influenced by using a lap steel guitar just for fun and found that it really added richness to all the songs he was working on so he pivoted to a bit more of an acoustic/western vibe than anything he has ever recorded in the past. He also definitely leaned into some of the “campiness” and imagery of classic “western” music.
