Ethan French – Tell Me | New Music

Ethan French is 18-year old multi-instrumentalist musician and composer. His primary instruments are piano and his voice, but he also has experimented with guitar, bass, ukulele, drums and various percussion instruments.

Ethan is barely out of teenagehood, but he already has an impressive CV. The young artist is currently studying musical composition at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), after being accepted for both contemporary piano and composition.

His first musical achievement happened when he was 15 by receiving the first place in the year 7 – 12 instrumental category in the Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) national songwriting competition. Ethan performed an original composition featuring string orchestra at St George’s Cathedral when he was in his final year of schooling.

After studying Music ATAR at Aquinas College (both piano and composition), he graduated with a music practical score in excess of 90% reflecting his incredible musical skills. He was then invited to audition for the prestigious Performing Arts Perspectives concert, and performed an original arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” at the event earlier this year.

Ethan has considerable experience in performing, composing, arranging and recording music, from instrumental to vocal-based works. He likes to mix contemporary style with jazz and classical music, and has already released his debut EP titled Someday.

He has just shared a new single titled “Tell Me”, and we can feel his different influences on it. There are piano featuring beats and chorus. It’s a rhythmic song delivering a kind of contemporary romantic R&B. It’s well structured and harmonious.

The hook “Tell me what you want, tell me what you need” is catchy and will stay in your head.
