Greta Thunberg Sails Into New York, Completing Her Eco-Friendly Voyage | Politics

The 16-year-old activist Greta Thunberg has reached New York after two weeks sailing the ocean from the UK. Her eco-friendly voyage to America was completed with success, despite strong winds and rough seas.

The climate change activist had said on Twitter that the Malizia II, was set to dock in New York on Tuesday. She arrived in the city a day later than estimated, after the zero-carbon yacht was delayed due to adverse conditions.

“We have anchored off Coney Island – clearing customs and immigration. We will come ashore at North Cove Marina earliest 14:45 tide allowing”, were the words that Swedish climate activist shared on Twitter, where she also detailed the whole crossing.

The teenager opted for an environmental friendly transport, instead of taking a plane, she decided on the racing boat Malizia II, which is emission-free. She was offered a voyage on this yacht skippered by the son of Princess Carolina Of Monaco, Pierre Casiraghi and the German round-the-world sailor Boris Herrmann.

Why have she travelled to America? Greta is going to be present at two UN climate change summits on zero emissions that are going to take place on September 23 in New York and December 2-13 in Santiago.
