Harlem R&B/Soul Songstress Mia Jae Unveils New Single ‘Til You’

Harlem-based singer-songwriter Mia Jae has just released her latest single, “Til You”, from her upcoming album Midnight in Monte Carlo, set to be released later this year.

The new single, produced by long-time collaborator Aloof, features Mia’s signature R&B soul sound and is influenced by Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason”. “Til You” reflects on Mia’s yearning for a love that wasn’t meant to be and takes a step away from the melodic vocals of her debut EP Couples Therapy, as she expands her songwriting and vocal skills.

Mia describes “Til You” as a reflection of the relapse she experienced after thinking she was over the cycle of unrequited love. She states that “love is the drug and this is the relapse”, perfectly encapsulating the feeling of being unable to move on.

The new single follows “I’m ‘Okay’ Now”, the lead single from Midnight in Monte Carlo, also produced by Aloof, which was released in November 2022. The album’s theme centres around the idea of thinking one is over the drama that relationships can bring, to realizing that they might just be addicted and lying to themselves.

Mia’s music is influenced by artists such as Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, and Sarah Vaughan, and her soulful sound can be heard in her performances at NYC staples such as SOB’s, Piano’s, and Arlene’s Grocery.

Mia’s debut album, Couples Therapy, was released in 2020 and addressed suppressed feelings from past relationships. The six-track EP features her debut single “Better Man” (2018) and her 2019 single “How It Feels”. The project allowed Mia to work through her emotions and connect with listeners who have faced similar trials and tribulations.

Mia’s new album, Midnight In Monte Carlo, is set to drop this summer and promises to showcase her expanded songwriting and vocal skills. Mia is a new school woman with an old school soul, and her music reflects her personal journey of healing and self-expression.
