Multi-award winning Afro-pop group Sauti Sol, have dropped a full Emoji lyric video to their latest hot single, “Friendzone”.
Written and produced by Sauti Sol, “Friendzone” is not your usual lyric video as they present a theme to the song that everyone can relate to but using only emojis in the style of a WhatsApp conversation. The emojis tells the story of someone who is trying to get out of the friendzone that nobody likes to be in.
Speaking about the video Sauti Sol said: “Emoji texts are the new ‘means’ of communication and more specifically emotions like laughter, lust and love. We wanted to have fun with this concept seeing as the track we had needed visuals which best highlight these emotions as people nowadays communicate them. So we thought it was best to come up with such a video.”
