Coldplay have revealed that their new album A Head Full of Dreams will feature a sample of President Obama singing “Amazing Grace”. The clip is from when the president sung at Reverend Clementa C. Pinckney’s funeral in Charleston, South Carolina this summer. (The Sun reports.) The song was sung for Pinckney, a South Carolina state senator, was one of the black men and women killed by a white gunman at Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church back in June.

Coldplay commented: “We have a tiny clip of the President singing Amazing Grace at that church,” Chris Martin told The Sun. “Because of the historical significance of what he did and also that song being about, ‘I’m lost but now I’m found.'”

A Head Full of Dreams is due for release on December 4 via Parlophone/Atlantic. You can watch the clip of Obama singing below.
