To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the popular franchise, Katy Perry has announced a collaborative single with Pokémon in conjunction with Universal Music Group.
The iconic video game and Japanese entertainment franchise with a huge fanbase all over the world, Pokémon was established in 1996 and today in 2021, it is continuing its tradition of bringing people together with the help of music!
The hints on the possible collaboration started when the pop star claimed that she would be partnering with the franchise on a star-studded program back in January this year. This week, Katy revealed that her official collaborative single will be titled “Electric” and will be released on Friday!
The news was announced on Katy’s Twitter:

“Pokémon has been a constant in my life from playing the original video games on my Game Boy, to trading Pokémon TCG cards at lunch, to the adventures of catching Pokémon on the street with Pokémon GO“, said Katy earlier this year.
The year-long P25 Music campaign includes the Pokémon 25: The Album, set for a fall 2021 release and will consist of fourteen new tracks.
Alongside Katy, the album will feature a pocket full of 11 Universal Music Grouo artists like J Balvin, Post Malone and many others. Another surprise artist will join the star list in releasing a song inspired by the Pokémon franchise, as well as a music video and merchandise collection.
