Florida rapper-singer Doechii has released a new song titled “Crazy” along with a riveting music video to go with it.
The American artist has been gaining traction with her previous two EPs, 2020’s Oh the Places You’ll Go and last year’s BRA-LESS, along with her “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” single which reached 33 million streams on Spotify.
Her new single “Crazy” has arrived as a perfect opposite of her previous weed and late-night partying track “Persuasive”.
Freshly signed with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and Capitol Records, the 22-year old artist and director C. Prinz have successfully realised the challenge of making the record and the visual a perfect representation of the woman body shape.
The last four months have been dedicated to this task, wilfully and precisely work has been done to transmit the exact message in a story built by personal and shared experiences.
The fashionista Doechii erupts on “Crazy” with aggressive flexes, flashy cadences and roar raps driving to a set of bitter emotions.
Speaking about the song, Doechii said “Crazy is about un-contained power, creativity and confidence. People call you crazy when they fear you or they don’t understand you,” She continued “So when I use it in the song I’m reflecting that energy back on them to show them themselves.”
The song’s guarded chaos is perfectly described in the unreal music video. The Tampa rapper is spotted dancing in a high energic choreography caring a gun almost naked. The mixing of hip-hop and broken beat puts Doechii in a raging situation from where she proves the capacity of women to provide for their being.
Directed by C. Prinz, the music video is perceived as a perfect visual metaphor of the quote “the hardships women go through in their ascension to power” while asking the viewers about “to see the female form not in moments of sexuality but instead for what we all go through, what we survive through and what we transcend.”.
