Jaguar Jonze Drops New ‘Astronaut’ Music Video Inspired By Her Battle With Anxiety | Music News

Australia native and multi-instrumental singer and songwriter previously released her indie music as Deena but now she goes by Jaguar Jonze. Last week, she dropped the music video for her latest track “Astronaut”, following her previously released singles “Deadalive” and “Murder”.

“ASTRONAUT” is an example of Jonze’s distinctive voice creating an otherworldly production that we can discover in this powerful, emotional music video. The song is inspired by Deena’s journey in liberating herself from a lifelong battle with anxiety.

She says “It is a human trait. It’s how we survive in the wild” adding that “We’re all wired as humans to be quite anxious. As females more so, because we’re more susceptible to danger”.

The Australian creative does not only write and produce music as Jaguar Jonze but she also works as a visual artist with her project Spectator Jonze and as a photographer for Dusky Jonze. With this visual art project based on mental health, Deena also goes through different subject such as masculinity, femininity, insecurities and taboos around the body in the photo project.

She explains “Everything I do stems from the need for dialogue – Jaguar being an internal dialogue with my subconscious, Spectator being an external dialogue with others on mental health and the mind and Dusky being a dialogue with the body”.

Deena Lynch demonstrated her hard work, drive and passion for music when she decided to keep recording the vocals for her entire second EP while in hospital care after contracting COVID-19 in March 2020. Her forthcoming ANTIHERO EP will feature five tracks through bold-palette videos that transform into an antihero character “in a cyberpunk, anime, futuristic, graphic, almost sci-fi world”, says Deena.
