Rihanna Won’t Headline Super Bowl Halftime Show As She Prioritises Ninth Album | Music News
While attending her Fenty x Savage New York Fashion Week show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Rihanna definitely denied rumours about her performing at next year Super Bowl, confirming that she won’t be a ‘front-runner’ for the 2020 halftime show performance.
This is not the first time that the Barbadian singer has turned down the offer, since, in October 2018, it was reported that she had declined the opportunity to headline the 2019 halftime show. However, this time Rihanna’s fans will be happy about her decision, as she explained that her choice is linked to her new record:
“Actually, this is my first time hearing about the Super Bowl since last Super Bowl,” she said. “I still got an album to finish. You’re gonna ask about Super Bowl, really? My fans are gonna have my neck”.
The record Rihanna is working on, will be her ninth album, following Anti, which was released in January 2016. According to some rumours, the record may be dropped in December, but, as the singer has revealed, there is still a great deal of work to be done and there is no official release date yet:
“You’re about to ask me about my album”, she joked, as she always loves doing when talking with her fans about new records. “I just knew it! Well, obviously I’m a confident woman so whatever I do it’s gon’ be confident… Y’all gonna have to wait, Navy, I’m sorry”.
Navy fans will have to wait, but we are sure that the waiting will be worth it!
