BTS Deliver Iconic Performance For ‘MTV Unplugged’ | Music News

On Tuesday, February 23, BTS made history becoming the first Korean act to perform on MTV Unplugged, the home of some of the world’s best performances of the Millennial age.

RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook and SUGA broke out never-before-heard versions of their hits, debuted songs from their new album BE. Moreover, they even covered the iconic band Coldplay!

The leader of BTS, RM, said at the opening: “It’s really an honor to be a part of the MTV Unplugged legacy, where so many legends have performed. We’re definitely thankful, honored we got to be a part of this

The session started off with their first-ever televised performance of “Telepathy“, the lead single of BE. SUGA, who wrote the song, explained the inspiration behind it: “We’re in a situation where we can’t meet our fans around the world in person due to COVID-19. So the song’s lyrics describe our current situation of temporarily being apart from each other“.

Next, the K-pop band appeared out of a concrete garden stage while performing beautiful ballad “Blue & Grey“. V who helped to write the song, explained that it was written as a tribute to their fans who they have missed a lot performing for at live shows.

“Blue & Grey” was followed by their next song “Life Goes On” with live music from Ghost, a band that has played with the boys for years. Surprisingly, BTS even played a special cover of Coldplay “Fix You“. Thee members explained that the song gave a comfort during a difficult year.

For their grand finale, the band ended up with their #1 hit “Dynamite“, which they performed for their first time on MTV at the 2020 VMAs. After that, Jungkook gave a farewell speech: “First, we miss you ARMY so much! We look forward to seeing you again, and until then, we will continue to stay by your side this year with good music“.

BTS shows no signs of slowing down! Later this year we will find out whether the band will take a Grammy victory for their super successful song “Dynamite”, but for now let’s enjoy with their MTV Unplugged performance and see what they have in store for us in the nearest future!
