Midas The Jagaban Returns With Unexpected Visuals For ‘Cloud 9’ And ‘Step 2 Me’ | Music News

Following her breakthrough tracks “Come We Bill Ehh” and “Party With A Jagaban” which combined for 40 million plays and put her on BBC Radio 1xtra’s ‘Ones To Watch For 2021’ list, UK musician Midas The Jagaban returns with unexpected double video drop for her “Cloud 9” and “Step 2 Me” tracks!

South London artist Midas The Jagaban released her EP Midas Touch last year, and today she has revealed visuals for two tracks from the EP.

Directed by Nathan James Tettey whose name is behind Stormzy’sSkengman” and Drake’sOnly You Freestyle” visuals, the “Cloud 9” music video shows Midas surrounded by dancers, who let their bodies follow the beat of the song.

Jagaban’s personality is reflected through the costume of misunderstood mastermind The Joker. With her traditional attire expressing her roots but keeping her anonymity safe, the singer pays homage to Nigerian Afrobeat legend, Lágbájá. The stylish and sophisticated looks complement Jagaban’s individuality and absolutely unique music path!

Released on the same day, the “Step 2 Me” video reveals Midas being behind bars but in spite of jail surroundings, the video shows prisoners dancing and vibing to the afrobeats rhythms and harmonies performed by incredible Midas The Jagaban.

The visuals were directed by Mad Brother Productions who previously collaborated with Afro B, Blade Brown and Steel Banglez. It is quite likely that this project will be followed with another release soon since the end of the video warns us with a “To be continued” scene.

Since the very young age, music was always the remedy and the escape for Midas The Jagaban. Inspired by the likes of Rema, Koffe, NSG, Naira Markey and Ms Banks, Jagaban’s music style can be described as a fusion of indigenous Afrobeats and UK Afroswing. Her unique signature and style let tell her story anonymously in her own unrepeatable way.

Her stage name, Midas The Jagaban, was inspired by the Greek mythological story of King Midas whose every touch turned everything into gold. This metaphor references the singer’s talent and superpower. Jagaban has made it clear to her listeners: “I felt like that best described me because it reflects in my music, every beat I touch turns into gold“.

With her unmatched and pioneering ideas, Midas The Jagaban is truly a new breath to the music industry! Her rapid rise becomes clear after witnessing her authentic projects! If you haven’t seen these stunning works yet, watch the videos below.
